WHEELS COBALT 11 27.5" BOOST

The Crank Brothers Cobalt 11 27.5 inch wheelset is a featherweight race wheel for your mid-wheeled XC shred sled. With a paired spoke design which builds a stiff, balanced wheel, the rim is able to be built light. We measured them at a svelte 1,530g, which is pretty much deep-dish carbon road race territory. But more than light, these wheels are stiff and responsive — perfect for dusting people whether you’ve got a number plate strapped to your bike or not.

The carbon fiber rim shares the centered I-beam design with Crank Brothers’ aluminum wheels, which creates the tabs which hold the barrels that hold the spoke ends. This design is not only aesthetically unique, but it eliminates the need for traditional rim drillings, which weaken the rim. Since the rims lack the stress risers caused by spoke holes, they’re able to be built lighter, while maintaining sufficient strength. The secondary benefit is that this construction means you no longer need to run rim tape, which saves weight and makes for a dead simple tubeless conversion. The paired spoke design makes for a balanced, strong wheel.
